This is great at blocking and cleaning malware. This product works well and does not seem to need many system resources unless it is performing a full scan. There are better packages in relation to value for money out there even from McAfee – for example if you have more than one computer it males sense to buy the 3 computer version. It is basically set and forget but does have quite a few features to protect you on line. You pays your money and takes your choice as they say ! I personally prefer Kaspersky as it offers more for the money and has constantly been one of the leaders in tests. There are many of these from Norton, Kaspersky, Avast, AVG to name a few. Overall the 2015 range of McAfee software comes out quite well and copes with all the normal threats the net will throw at you. It’s hard to determine how effective any anti-virus software is but I look at the reviews in the computer press and online. It is very comprehensive and is much more than just a virus checker. This gives total protection against viruses, firewall threats, malware, spamming and it has a parental control option where parents can limit what children can access on the net. At the end of the install you put in the registration key and your protected for one year with all necessary updates etc. Go to the McAfee site and select the product, click down load and that’s about it. I think this is fine as any disk will be out of date when you buy it so by downloading from the site you get the latest version with the most up to date software and bug fixes. Inside is a registration key and download instructions. This software is delivered in a cd sized packet. McAfee Total Protection 2015 - 1 PC (PC) I know it's all good intentions but given that it affect the running-power of my machine this makes it hard-to-like. I would suggest you consider looking at the Internet Security package, or at the least the Anti-Virus package rather than this. but other elements seem pointless (software update notices for other programs, really?!?), almost as if it's being aimed at people who really can't use a computer, or those who are so scared of the internet perhaps they shouldn't be using it at all. Ignoring the problem above, the actual software does what it should, giving you notice about potentially dodgy URLs and spam emails. It could be that I need a better machine, but other protection programs have faired ok, so I can't be sure about this. However, the initial pop-ups become annoying (go into your settings to help reduce these) but my more power-hungry programs suffer from slow-down or stuttering when used while this runs in the background (Photoshop being my main program of choice). installation was okay, fairly swift with it's updates. Sorry to state the obvious.Įssentially, I've had some trouble with this being sluggish. This version is a download-code purchase, you are not actually buying a physical copy (CD or DVD).
